The Ontario Provincial Police has laid murder and manslaughter charges against two individuals in relation to a suspicious death that occurred at a motel near Eganville.
Officers from the Killaloe detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 6:30 p.m. July 21 at a motel on Highway 60 in North Algona Wilberforce. With assistance from East Region OPP Criminal Operations, officers located a 40-year-old male with a serious injury. Despite life-saving measures by the County of Renfrew Paramedic service Gilbert Rumleskie, originally of Barry’s Bay, succumbed to his injuries at scene.
Two males from North Algona Wilberforce were arrested at the scene and have been charged in connection with the death. Brandon Lamoureux, 27, has been charged with second degree murder and Jordan Plumb, 19, has been charged with manslaughter.
The accused were scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on July 30 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.
